Google Calendar appointments

The assistant takes bookings 24/7 and confirms them on the spot: it checks your real availability and creates the event in your Google Calendar. How to set it up, step by step.

Your assistant can take bookings and appointments 24/7 right in the chat: the visitor says which day and time suits them, the assistant checks your real availability in that very moment and, if it is free, the appointment is confirmed on the spot, lands in your Google Calendar and on the Google Calendar page of your dashboard (under Integrations). No "we'll get back to you": no phone tag, no email back-and-forth, no external tools. This guide shows you how to set it up in a few minutes.

Before you start

  • You need the Basic plan or higher (Basic, Pro or E-commerce). On Free, you can upgrade from Billing in your dashboard.
  • A Google account with Google Calendar — the one you already use for the business works fine.
  • Your business hours configured in the dashboard: the assistant never confirms an appointment outside those hours.

Step 1 · Turn on bookings

In your dashboard, open Integrations → Google Calendar. There you enable appointment-taking and adjust how it should work (your business hours, for example). From then on, when a visitor asks for an appointment in the chat, the assistant collects the request with their details.

Step 2 · Connect Google Calendar

This is the step that turns requests into real, confirmed appointments:

  1. On that page, click Connect Google Calendar.
  2. Google's consent screen opens: pick your account and accept the permissions.
  3. You're back in the dashboard with the calendar showing Connected. Done.

What permissions do we ask for, and why? Just two, in plain language:

  • Create and manage events — so the assistant can create the appointment in your calendar (and change it if needed).
  • Check availability — to check, the moment a customer asks for a specific time, whether that slot is already busy.

ChatME is verified by Google, which has reviewed how we use these permissions.

Step 3 · Try it

Open your assistant (the Try it button in the dashboard) and ask for an appointment the way a customer would: "I'd like to book an appointment on Thursday at 10:00". The assistant:

  1. Asks for what it needs (name, contact details, reason).
  2. Checks your real availability in that moment: your business hours and your Google Calendar.
  3. If that time is free, it creates the event in your Google Calendar and confirms it right there in the chat. If it is taken, it says so and asks for another.

Check that the event shows up in your Google Calendar and that the booking is listed on the Google Calendar page of the dashboard, with the customer's details.

How it checks availability

When the customer asks for a specific time, the assistant checks two things before it confirms:

  • Your business hours — it never confirms an appointment outside the hours you configure.
  • Your Google Calendar — it checks in that very instant whether that slot is already busy, so there are no double bookings even if you add events by hand.

If both check out, the appointment is created and confirmed on the spot, inside the conversation itself: no double-booking, and no "we'll get back to you". If that time is taken or falls outside your hours, the assistant says so and asks for another. And if you change your hours or block out time in your calendar, the assistant respects it automatically in the next conversation.

Privacy

  • The credentials used to access your calendar are stored encrypted — never your Google password (the connection uses Google's official system).
  • You can disconnect the calendar at any time from the Google Calendar page of the dashboard, or revoke access from your Google account settings (myaccount.google.com/permissions).
