HELP CENTER/SET UP YOUR CHATBOT

Connect Facebook Messenger

Your chatbot answers the messages sent to your Facebook Page too. What you need, the step-by-step, what it answers and what it doesn’t — and why this connection, unlike the others, never expires.

On the Pro and E-commerce plans, your chatbot also handles the messages sent to your Facebook Page: someone writes to your Page on Messenger and the assistant replies straight away, 24/7, with the same knowledge it already uses on your website, on WhatsApp and on Instagram. You make the connection yourself from your dashboard, and it takes a couple of minutes.

Before you start

Two things, and both are free.

  • The Pro or E-commerce plan. On Free or Basic, you can switch from Billing in your dashboard.
  • Being an admin of your business's Facebook Page. Editor or moderator is not enough: when you authorise, Facebook only shows us the Pages you administer. If yours doesn't appear, this is almost always why.

You need nothing else. No Business Manager, no business verification, and nothing for your customers to install.

Step 1 · Open the Messenger section of your dashboard

In ChatME, open Messenger from the sidebar. You'll see the "Connect your Facebook Page" card.

Step 2 · Authorise ChatME

Press Connect Messenger. We take you to Facebook, you sign in, and you give ChatME permission to read and reply to your Page's messages.

If you administer several Pages, we ask which one you want to connect when you come back. Pick your business's Page and you're done.

Once it's finished you come straight back to your dashboard and the section switches to Messenger connected, showing your Page name.

If you cancel halfway or something fails, the dashboard tells you exactly what happened and you can try again whenever you like. Nothing is left half-done.

Step 3 · Try it

Message your Page from a different Facebook account — a friend's, or a second account of your own. The assistant replies within seconds.

You can't test it by writing from the Page itself: Facebook doesn't deliver the messages a Page sends to itself to connected tools, so it would look broken when it isn't.

The conversation appears under Conversations in your dashboard, alongside the ones from your website, WhatsApp and Instagram.

One thing you'll like: the connection doesn't expire

Unlike other channels, Facebook's permission for a Page doesn't expire. You connect once and that's it: no re-authorising every so often, and no finding the channel down on a Monday morning because a token ran out.

What it answers, and what it doesn't

The assistant reads text messages, which is what people write in virtually every message sent to a Page.

  • Photos, stickers, voice notes and files: it can't read them, so it replies by politely asking the person to type it out. Nobody is left without an answer, and the conversation sits in your dashboard for you to pick up.
  • Comments on your posts and ads: no. This channel is the messages sent to your Page. Comments are still yours to handle from Facebook.

What it costs

Nothing per message. Your assistant only replies to people who write to you — it never starts conversations or sends promotions — and the channel is included on the Pro and E-commerce plans.

What to expect afterwards

  • 24/7 replies with the same brain and the same knowledge base as your web chatbot. Any improvement you make applies across every channel at once.
  • Leads and forms work exactly as they do on the web.
  • It replies in each person's language, automatically.
  • It identifies itself as an AI in its first reply, as the EU AI Act requires. There's nothing for you to configure — there's more detail in The EU AI Act and your chatbot.

If something isn't working

  • Your Page doesn't appear when you authorise → you're not an admin of that Page, or you signed in to Facebook with a personal account that doesn't administer it. Check it on Facebook, in the Page's role settings.
  • It says "connected" but the bot doesn't reply → message the Page from another account; messages from the Page itself never arrive. If it still doesn't reply, write to us.
  • You connected the Page to another chatbot before → a Page connects to a single chatbot. The latest connection wins: if you connect it from a different ChatME account, it stops replying on the previous one.
  • You revoked the permission from Facebook → go back to the Messenger section of your dashboard and connect it again.

How to disconnect it

From the Messenger section of your dashboard, using the Disconnect button. You can also revoke the permission from Facebook, in your account's apps settings. Either way, your Page and your messages remain yours.

If you'd like us to delete the messages we've stored from a particular conversation, write to us at info@chatme.es and we'll do it.
